TeamViewer Remote Desktop

TeamViewer is a cross-platform remote desktop tool supporting remote support, remote access, remote management, home office, and online collaboration. Unlike SSH, Samba, RDP, and other LAN-based connection methods, TeamViewer typically requires both the device and the controller to be able to access TeamViewer servers, making it suitable for cross-network remote maintenance of Quectel Pi M1.

This document describes how to install TeamViewer Host on a Quectel Pi M1 Debian system and connect to the device from a Windows host using the TeamViewer client.

💡 Note: Quectel Pi L1 is not applicable for this tool. Additionally, TeamViewer requires access to the public internet to generate a device ID. If the Quectel Pi M1 is only connected via an ADB virtual network adapter, or the current network cannot access the external network, the TeamViewer service can start, but sudo teamviewer info may not display a TeamViewer ID.

Prerequisites

  1. Verify the device environment:

    • The Quectel Pi M1 has started the Debian graphical desktop

    • The Quectel Pi M1 can connect to the internet normally

    • The Windows host has the TeamViewer client installed

  2. Check the Quectel Pi M1 network status.

Run the following commands in the Quectel Pi M1 terminal:

hostname -I
ip route
ping -c 3 8.8.8.8
ping -c 3 linux.teamviewer.com

If both ping commands return round-trip time information, network connectivity and DNS resolution are functioning normally.

Software Installation

TeamViewer officially provides a Debian installation package for the ARM64 architecture. When using the Quectel Pi M1 as the remotely controlled device, installing TeamViewer Host is recommended.

  1. Update the package list:

sudo apt update
  1. Download the TeamViewer Host installation package:

wget https://download.teamviewer.com/download/linux/teamviewer-host_arm64.deb
  1. Install TeamViewer Host:

sudo dpkg -i teamviewer-host_arm64.deb

If dependency errors are reported, run the following command to fix dependencies:

sudo apt --fix-broken install

The test environment for this document is Debian 13. If offline installation prompts that libminizip1 or libxcb-xinerama0 is missing, first prepare the corresponding ARM64 dependency packages, then run:

sudo dpkg -i libminizip1t64_*.deb libxcb-xinerama0_*.deb
sudo dpkg --configure teamviewer-host

Software Configuration

After installation, you can set the TeamViewer background service to start automatically on boot:

sudo systemctl enable teamviewerd

To check the service running status:

sudo systemctl status teamviewerd --no-pager -l

Under normal circumstances, you should see the active (running) status.

Software Startup

The basic startup and initialization process for TeamViewer Host is as follows:

sudo systemctl start teamviewerd
sudo teamviewer license accept
sudo teamviewer passwd '<连接密码>'
sudo teamviewer info

If sudo teamviewer license accept prompts License agreement has already been accepted., the license agreement has already been accepted and you can proceed with the subsequent steps.

<连接密码> is the remote control password used when the Windows host connects to the Quectel Pi M1. TeamViewer validates password complexity; it is recommended to use a password containing both letters and numbers and at least 8 characters in length, for example:

sudo teamviewer passwd 'Quectel2026'

If the command returns ok, the password has been set successfully.

If the network is functioning normally, sudo teamviewer info will display the TeamViewer ID. This ID is needed when the Windows host establishes a remote connection.

To restart the TeamViewer service:

sudo teamviewer --daemon restart

To open the graphical interface, you can open TeamViewer Host from the Quectel Pi M1 desktop application menu, or run the following in the terminal:

teamviewer

On first use, follow the on-screen prompts to accept the license agreement and log in to a TeamViewer account or view the local connection information.
